Police Rescue Six Abducted Law Students Traveling From Anambra to Adamawa
The police have successfully rescued six law students of the Yola Campus who were abducted on July 26, 2025, while travelling from Anambra State to Adamawa State.
EBELENAIJA recalls that the unfortunate incident took place in the late hours of Saturday, July 26, 2025, along the dangerous and volatile route between Wukari in Taraba State and certain parts of Benue State. The route has gained a reputation for insecurity and violent attacks, especially targeting travelers.
In a statement released on Friday, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, Edet Udeme, confirmed that the abducted students were released safely and reunited with their families in the early hours of Friday, August 1, 2025.
She said, “Police authorities confirmed the rescue, assuring the public of their commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property.”
The police did not disclose whether any ransom was paid, but their statement reaffirmed their dedication to combating criminal activities in the region and maintaining law and order. The successful rescue mission is being hailed as a major breakthrough, especially considering the growing number of similar abductions reported in recent months.
Families of the rescued students expressed relief and gratitude to the police for their swift response and efforts in securing the safe return of their loved ones.
Security experts continue to call for increased patrols and surveillance along the Wukari-Benue corridor to prevent further occurrences and ensure safer travel for citizens across Nigeria.
