The arrest underscores growing security concerns and the government’s resolve to deal firmly with any threats to constitutional rule.

How Nollywood Filmmaker Stanley Amandi Was Convinced to Join the Coup Plot

Amandi was tricked into joining a plot to overthrow President Tinubu’s government. The plotters, led by Brigadier General Musa Abubakar Sadiq and Colonel M.A. Ma’aji, told him he could help fix Nigeria’s problems through his influence as a filmmaker and actor.

They allegedly highlighted issues like insecurity, economic challenges, and governance concerns, framing the coup as a means to address these problems. Amandi, believing he was contributing to a noble cause, agreed to support their efforts, using his platform to promote their narrative and legitimize their actions.

The plotters reportedly assured him of protection and a role in the new government, leveraging his influence to sway public opinion. Amandi’s involvement was uncovered during investigations, leading to his arrest alongside the military officers involved.
