Anambra Police Arrests Two For Possessing Stolen Cement Trucks

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects namely– Okoye Chukwunonso and Nnanna Charles – for possessing two trucks of cement worth around N17m.

The spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement on Sunday, disclosed that their arrest followed a complaint by a victim of how he was defrauded of his goods.

Ikenga said the victim met one Edwin Emeka online where the latter requested the supply of the two trucks of cement and after the items were supplied, all attempts to get to Emeka proved abortive.

According to him, the operatives from the 33 Police Station arrested the suspects after tracing the cement to different shops across the state.
The statement read in part, “Following a complaint received by police operatives attached to the 33 Police Station on how one Edwin Emeka of unknown address defrauded an unsuspecting member of the public of two trucks load of cement worth N17m only, arrested one Nnanna Charles and Okoye Chukwunonso in possession of the swindle goods.

“The victim met Edwin Emeka online and has been in communication with him. Immediately the cement was supplied, all attempts to get to Emeka proved abortive, before the police operatives traced the goods to different shops in the state.

“The two suspects are currently undergoing interrogations to provide more information on how to arrest Edwin and other syndicate members.
“The case highlights the importance of vigilance especially those we meet online for business transactions and other personal engagements to prevent harm or loss of life and property.”
He stated that the case shall be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigations.

In a related development, the Anambra State Police Command also arrested a suspect simply identified as Maduka, a male, at Fegge, Onitsha, for dealing on stolen and vandalised cables in the state.

In a press statement released on Sunday, the spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu, arrested the suspect on Saturday, based on credible information.

Ikenga said the team also recovered bags of vandalised copper wires, large quantities of high-tension wires, copper coil and other transformer equipment.

The statement read, “Police operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, acting on credible information on June 14, 2025, around 4.15 pm arrested one Maduka ‘M’ aged 40 years at Fegge, Onitsha, a suspected dealer of vandalised items and equipment.

“The team also recovered bags of vandalised copper wires, large quantities of high tension wires, copper coil and other transformer equipment.
“Given the above, the operatives are expanding the investigation following the suspect’s confession of where they sell the items in Ogun and Lagos States.

“Further developments shall be communicated, please.”
