The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential flag bearer in the most recent general election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has officially stepped down from the party.
The former vice president made this known in a letter obtained by Ebelenaija on Wednesday. This publication also verified the letter’s authenticity through Paul Ibe, Atiku Abubakar’s Media Adviser.
About three weeks ago, Atiku initiated a political alliance under the African Democratic Party, ADC, joining forces with Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, and ex-Kaduna governor Nasir el-Rufai, among others, in a united front aimed at removing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from power in the 2027 elections.
