Ex-Super Eagles Coach Monday Sinclair Dies at 88

Former Super Eagles coach, Monday Sinclair, has passed away at the age of 88, following a battle with diabetes.

The announcement was made by ex-Nigeria goalkeeper, Peterside Idah, through a post on Facebook.

It is believed that Sinclair died on Wednesday at approximately 3:15pm.

“Our daddy is gone. What a man. He signed me to play for Sharks. Gave me my first match against Niger Tornadoes of Minna,” Idah shared.

Following the dismissal of Philippe Troussier in 1997, Sinclair was named interim coach of the Nigerian national team and managed two friendly fixtures against Zambia and Tunisia.

He is widely praised for unearthing talents such as Peter Rufai, Taribo West, Finidi George, and Idah Peterside, among others.
