Lagos Police Revises Movement Restrictions Ahead of LG Elections

In preparation for the Local Government elections set for Saturday, July 12, 2025, the Lagos State Police Command has revised the previously announced movement restriction hours.

The command stated that vehicular and waterways movement restrictions will now start at 6:00 a.m. and conclude at 3:00 p.m., instead of the earlier 3:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. schedule.

Through a statement issued by its spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, the police noted that the change aims to reduce the inconvenience for residents dealing with critical medical needs, essential engagements, or long-arranged international travel.

“To alleviate the problem of residents with critical medical emergencies and appointments, and those with longtime international travel plans in and out of the country, the restriction of vehicular movement is hereby readjusted to commence at 6:00 AM and end at 3:00 PM on Saturday, July 12, 2025 and not from 3am as earlier announced. Members of the Public are enjoined to cooperate and respect the new timing,” the statement read.

Elections will be conducted across the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) within Lagos State.

Additionally, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Owohunwa Olatunji Jimoh, reiterated the Command’s dedication to maintaining a secure, peaceful, and well-organized election.

He called on all Lagos residents to support security personnel, remain alert, and report any unusual activities through the emergency lines: 0806 329 9264 or 0806 515 4338.
