A representative of the All Progressives Congress, Samuel Ogunlokun, has voiced concern regarding the low voter turnout at polling unit 061, Ward A, within the Ikotun-Igando Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.
Ogunlokun, who spoke with our correspondent during a visit to the polling unit, described the turnout as disappointing, despite prior mobilisation efforts aimed at encouraging residents to participate in the election.
“The turnout is not encouraging. We tried to canvass people, but they did not come out. Although there is no problem generally. This area has been very peaceful,” he said.
No voters were seen at the location during the time our correspondent was present at the unit.
Appearing visibly disheartened by the situation, another party agent at the scene declined to provide any comments when approached.
The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission is overseeing the elections in 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas.
