Police Arrests Four Suspected Armed Robbers In Lagos
The Lagos State Police Command has taken four individuals into custody, including a petrol station manager, in connection with a suspected robbery syndicate believed to be responsible for multiple armed attacks across the state.
The suspects — Noble Saint Neokoro, Batomie Samson, Abubakar Ali, and Bitrus Ibrahim — were captured by officers from the command’s Tactical Squad Hawk during a covert operation in the Ejigbo area. The arrests were achieved through credible intelligence and ongoing surveillance efforts.
Initial findings revealed that one of those arrested was the manager of a local filling station, though the owner of the station is reported to have been unaware of any criminal activity tied to the location. According to sources familiar with the investigation, the suspects have admitted to being part of a robbery gang.
Confirming the arrests, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that the operation is part of wider efforts to dismantle a network known for hijacking trucks carrying petroleum products and other goods.
“The Tactical Squad Hawk carried out the operation that led to the arrest of four suspects, including a fuel station manager,” Hundeyin said. “The owner of the station has denied any involvement. The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, also played a vital role in the apprehension of the manager.”
He further disclosed that the arrests are linked to a previous incident on June 28, when a tanker carrying Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, was hijacked and later found emptied in the Orile area of Lagos.
That case led to the arrest of seven additional suspects at a filling station in Ejigbo, where the stolen fuel was allegedly being offloaded. Those arrested were identified as Izuchukwu Nwanoruo, Kayode Falodun, Ojo Ayodele, Ayomide Thompson, Ahmed Saliu, Igbalaye Kareem, and Babatunde Ahmed. The recovered tanker has been secured and logged as evidence.
SP Hundeyin confirmed that all individuals in custody are cooperating with investigators and will face formal charges in court once the investigation is completed.
